Abstract

CONSTITUTION: In a sludge-concentrating tank 14, sludge is concentrated to a level of water content of about 96%. The sludge is dehydrated to a level of water content of 75 to 85% by a dehydrator 15. The dehydrated sludge is transferred to a freezing- melting apparatus 16 where the sludge is freezed by heat of a cold medium of a refrigerator, etc. and then is molten by means of a heat source of a heat pump, etc. Then, the sludge is supplied to a dehydrator 17 where the water content of the sludge can be reduced to a level at 55 to 65%. Various treatment of the sludge having a water content of 55 to 65% become possible for incineration, reclamation, compact, etc. Such treatment of the sludge can be carried out economically and at low runningcost.
