Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of a multiplier, and also, to reduce the power consumption by storing in advance a result of multiplication of an input signal and a tap coefficient in a PROM, and executing a calculation of a digital filter by using its value. CONSTITUTION:The address of a PROM 6 is determined by an input signal outputted from a RAM 4 and a tap number. In the PROM 6, on the address determined by the tap number corresponding to some tap coefficient and the input signal, a result of multiplication of its tap coefficient and the input signal is stored. When the address corresponding to the tap number in a delay element string is added, the RAM 4 generates a tap output which has an input sampling signal delayed in accordance with the tap number. The PROM 6 outputs a result of multiplication of the input signal and the tap coefficient by adding the output of the RAM 4 and the tap number as the address. An adder 3 obtains a desired digital filter output by cumulating the output of the result of multiplication of the PROM 6. In such a way, a multiplier is made unnecessary.
