Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent conversion noises from being added even if conversion is repeated, by varying PCM quantizing characteristics inside of a converter circuit according to an input signal.
CONSTITUTION: A DPCM signal inputted from input terminal 10 is decoded by a DPCM decoding circuit and then outputted to digital adder ciruit 12, which adds the decoded signal and a forecast signal together and supplies its output to both PCM quantizing circuit 20 and delay circuit 14. In this circuit 14, the signal is delay- stored until the next sampling preiod and then applied to circuit 13, which outputs a next forecast value to circuit 12 at the next sampling period. At every prescribed period, PCM quantizing circuit 20 is supplied with signals from terminal 10 and circuit 12 and while the quantizing characteristics are varied according to those input signal, the output signal of circuit 12 is PCM-quantizing-coded and outputted from terminal 16. Consequently, conversion noises can be prevented from being added even if the conversion is repeated.
