Abstract

PURPOSE:To feed the proper amount of oil in moderate temperature to a piston so as to enhance the cooling effect of the piston by arranging an oil flow rate control valve and an oil cooler for the cooling oil passage of the piston respectively in a device cooling the piston by oil injection. CONSTITUTION:Oil in an oil pan 6 is fed to each section of an engine with pressure by an oil pump 7 through an oil passage 8. And oil is fed to an oil jet 2 with pressure through a cooling oil passage 9 so as to cool a piston 1. In this case, the cooling oil passage 9 is provided with an oil flow rate control valve 10. In addition, the cooling oil passage 9 is divided into a plurarity of passages 11 and 12, and one passage 12 is provided with an oil cooler 15. Then, the oil flow rate control valve 10 is controlled by ECU 16 in such a way as to meet a condition set in advance based on input signals concerning thermal loading conditions including the environmental condition and the like of the engine. Owing to this constitution, the proper amount of oil in moderate temperature is fed to an oil jet 2.
