PURPOSE:To easily recover high purity tantalum by subjecting scrap tantalum to demanganese by acid leaching, etc., and refining it by the chlorination method, alkoxide method, electron beam melting method or the combination thereamong. CONSTITUTION:A used tantalum condenser is ground and the covered material and MnO2 solid electrolyte involved therein are removed away by acid leaching, chlorination-distillation or Ar-H2 plasma method, carbon reduction-leaching, etc. Said Ta after the demanganese is refined by the molting chlorination method, alkoxide method, electron beam method or the combination thereamong: said Ta is halogenated, is thereafter brought into reaction with alcohol to alkoxide and is thereafter subjected to hydrolysis or oxidation. By this method, Ta is recovered as high purity metallic Ta or Ta2O5.
