Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain high speed reproduction by using a constitution so that a control signal used for a retrieval signal for an information signal is made up of 1st and 2nd reference signals, thereby utilizing each reference signal effectively in the signal reproduction mode. CONSTITUTION:An information signal Sa reproduced from a magnetic head HL is fed to a muting circuit 32 via an equalizer amplifier 31 and outputted (34). On the other hand, a queue signal Sq reproduced by a magnetic head HR is fed to a signal conversion circuit 36, where the signal is converted into a rectangular wave signal. Thus, a reproduced CUE signal Sq' is obtained at an output terminal 37 as shown in figure E or F and the signal is used also as a muting signal to the circuit 32. In the high speed reproduction mode, since the 2nd reference signal S2 has a frequency at the outside of the reproduction band, it cannot almost be reproduced and only the 1st reference signal S1 is reproduced. In the high speed reproduction, the reproduction CUE signal Sq' with a polarity shown in figure F is obtained, thereby applying muting for the information block period. Thus, the program search of the information block is attained by detecting the leading edge of the reproduced queue signal Sq'.
