PURPOSE:To realize the recording and reproducing system having excellent S/N, by automatically controlling the emphasis state in response to the state of an input signal. CONSTITUTION:A playback PCM signal with pickup from a recording medium is applied and decoded at a PCM demodulator 6, and a flat frequency characteristic is given from a deemphasis circuit 7. The identified signal included in the PCM signal is detected and picked up at an identifying signal detector 8, and after the delay in a prescribed time in a delaying circuit 9, it is the operation control input to the circuit 7. It is reproduced as an audio signal via the output buffer circuit 10 of the circuit 7.
