Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation in the efficiency of a magnetic head by forming approximately V-shaped plural grooves continuously on the surface of substrates, then finishing the groove wall surfaces on one side of the grooves of prescribed surface roughness, forming thin soft magnetic films at a prescribed film thickness on the finished surfaces and packing low melting point glass in the grooves. CONSTITUTION:The plural approximately V-shaped grooves 11 are continuously formed on the surface of the substrates 1. The groove wall surfaces 11a on one side of the grooves 11 are finished to the prescribed surface roughness and the thin soft magnetic films 3 are formed at the prescribed film thickness on the finished surfaces. The low melting point glass 2 is packed in the respective grooves 11 and the substrates 1 are cut at a prescribed pitch in the direction perpendicular to the grooves 11. The surfaces in the parts packed with the low melting point glass 2 are polished to a flat shape which is flush with the substrate surface to manufacture core blocks 8.
