Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the use of a developing agent for a long period without generating the spent of a toner, even if an electroconductive material is exposed on the surface of the titled carrier, by processing previously a fine particle of the electroconductive material with a substance having low surface energy, followed by dispersing the obtd. particle in a carrier coating solution to form a coating layer. CONSTITUTION:The coating layer (a carrier coating layer) composed of a resin contg. the fine particle of the electroconductive fine material which is previously surface-treated with the substance having the low energy, is formed on the surface of a carrier core material. The electroconductive fine particle usable for the titled carrier. is composed of a metal, a metal oxide, a sulfide, a carbon, a graphite or a conductive high polymer, etc., which has a particle size of about 1mmu-1mu. And, the substance having the low surface energy is exemplified by an org. acid or a silane coupler which has a fluorocarbon group, etc. Thus, the developer has a long shelf life, and an image having the good quality for the long period, can be formed without generating the spent of the toner.
