Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the electrical characteristics and mechanical durability of an image retaining member such as a photoreceptor or an electrostatic recording body by forming the surface of the member with polyacrylate resin. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a photosensitive CdS layer a urethane acrylate resin layer having about 10mum thickness is formed, and the resin layer is coated with a layer of polyacrylate resin (polyester of aromatic dicarboxylic acid and bisphenol A) having about 4mum thickness to manufacture a photoreceptor. When this photoreceptor is repeatedly subjected to latent image formation, development, transfer and cleaning with a urethane rubber blade, it shows durability up to about 20,000 sheets. By dispersing fine polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) powder in the polyacrylate resin, the resulting photoreceptor has no surface abrasion and is not deteriorated in the cleanability even after an about 50,000 sheet durability test.
