PURPOSE:To provide a carrier which has high electric resistance, stable triboelectrostatic charge quantity and partial electrical conductivity and has excellent durability as well by coating carrier core particles with a resin and fixing fine inorg. particles treated with a coupling agent having the electrostatic charge polarity reverse from the electrostatic charge polarity reverse from the electrostatic charge polarity of the coating layer onto the surface of said coating layer. CONSTITUTION:The intermediate coating layer is formed on the carrier core particle by coating the particles with the resin. The fine inorg. particles treated with the coupling agent having the electrostatic charge polarity reverse from the electrostatic charge polarity of the coating layer are fixed onto the surface of the carrier having the resultant intermediate coating layer. The carrier obtd. in such a manner has the high electric resistance and adequate electrical conductivity and, therefore, the rise of the electrostatic charge quantity if fast and the carrier has the stable triboelectrostatic chargeability. The accumulation of electric charge is, therefore, not generated even if the carrier is used for a long period of time. The stable electrostatic charge quantity is thus imparted to a toner.
