Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a carrier which has high electric resistance, stable triboelectrostatic charge quantity and partial electrical conductivity and has excellent durability as well by coating the surface of carrier core particles with polymer particles contg. magnetic powder and electrostatic charge control agent and fixing the same to the core particles. CONSTITUTION:The coating layer is formed on the carrier core particles by coating the particles with the subsidiary particles consisting of the polymer contg. the fine magnetic powder particle and the electrostatic charge control agent. For example, the subsidiary particles consisting of the fine particles are prepd. by adding the magnetic powder, the electrostatic charge control agent and polymer thoroughly mixing the mixture and grinding the same. The fine polymer particles are stuck to the surfaces of the carrier core to form the coating layer of the fine particles thereon. The subsidiary particles are melted and fixed to the core surface by heating. The carrier obtd. in such a manner has the high electric resistance and partially adequate electrical conductivity and, therefore, the carrier has stable triboelectrostatic chargeability. The accumulation of electric charge is not generated even if the carrier is used for a long period of time. The stable electrostatic charge quantity is thus imparted to a toner.
