Abstract
1306630 Electro-photographic developer INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 29 Dec 1971 [28 Jan 1971] 60298/71 Heading G2H A carrier (which in admixture with a toner acquires a relatively positive charge) comprises particles of core material having a heat-treated coating comprising a mixture of a fluoropolymer and a modifying agent which renders the fluoropolymer more triboelectrically positive. The fluoropolymer may be a fluorocarbon (e.g. a copolymer of tetrafluorethylene and hexafluoropropylene) or fluorosilicone polymer. The modifying agent may be an epoxy, urethane or methyl phenyl silicone resin. Coating of the core material may be by spraying in a cyclic fluidized bed. The coating may be 1-25 microns thick. The coating may be heated at up to 700F. for about 15 min. The core material may be sand or beads of glass or magnetic material and have a particle size of 50-1,000 microns. Toners are specified.
