Abstract
PURPOSE:To efficiently carry out gas separation by depressurizing the inside of the hollow yarn membrane, supplying a gaseous mixture to the outside of the membrane to start gas separation, and introducing a replacing gas to the outside of the membrane, and then releasing the depressurization in the membrane to interrupt or finish gas separation. CONSTITUTION:The inside of the aromatic polyimide hollow yarn membrane 2 is firstly depressurized to 1-300Torr before a gaseous mixture is supplied to a gas separator 1; then the gaseous mixture is supplied from a supply port 3; the membrane-permeable component such as steam is discharged from a discharge port 5 and the impermeable component from a discharge port 4 to carry out gas separation. When gas separation is interrupted or finished, a replacing gas, such as dry air and N2, free of org. compds. and steam is introduced into the outside of the hollow yarn membrane 2 to replace the gaseous mixture with the replacing gas; then the depressurization in the hollow yarn 2 is released to equalize the internal and external pressures.
