Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform and high-quality superconducting oxide (powder) as a raw material for superconducting oxide sintered forms through the alkoxide hydrolysis process, by adding a carboxylic acid to an alcoholic solution of metal alkoxide to gradually hydrolyzing said alkoxide. CONSTITUTION:First, an alcoholic solution of yttrium or rare earth metal alkoxide (e.g. yttrium butoxide), alcoholic solution of barium alkoxide and alcoholic solution of copper alkoxide are mixed. Thence, a carboxylic acid (e.g. acetic acid) is added to the resulting mixed solution to form water through the reaction given by the formula to effect gradual and uniform hydrolysis of the alkoxides by the water produced. The resulting reaction product is then dried to produce an oxide, which is sintered to obtain the objective superconducting oxide sintered form.
