Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having excellent heat response characteristics and image preservability, by incorporating a specified color developer, for developing a dye precursor into a color, and a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I is incorporated as a color developer for developing a colorless or light-colored dye precursor by reacting therewith when being heated, and further a compound of formula II is incorporated. A thermal recording paper employing the compound I and the compound II in combination can achieve a marked enhancement of image preservability which can not be achieved by use of other bisphenolsulfone. The use of the compound I as a color developer can achieve a high sensitivity superior to that of a thermal recording paper using BPA, which has not been achievable. A preferable amount of each of the color developer and the compound of formula II is ordinarily at least 5wt.%, particularly 20-500wt.%, based on the dye precursor. Heat response characteristic is further enhanced by adding a heat-fusible substance having a melting point of 80-160 deg.C such as stearic acid amide and N-hydroxymethylstearic acid amide.
