Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify circuit constitution, and at the same time, to automatically select a necessary emphasis characteristic by constituting a non-linear emphasis circuit of an input level detector and an adaptive digital filter, constituted so that its emphasis characteristic is controlled according to a detected level. CONSTITUTION:The detected output of a prescribed number of bits outputted from the input level detector 8 is supplied as the address of a coefficient control part 30. The digital filter 10 is constituted so as to be adaptive, and in its coefficient control part 30, coefficient data for obtaining plural transfer functions are stored so that the emphasis characteristics of plural kinds corresponding to the input level can be automatically selected. Then, the particular coefficients are supplied to respective multipliers 3A-3N from the coefficient control part 30, so that the emphasis characteristic EA is selected for the lowest input level A, and the emphasis characteristic EH is selected for the highest input level H. Thus, the adaptive emphasis circuit, whose emphasis characteristic varies in company with the change of the input level, in other words, the transition of time, is obtained.
