Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress the erosion of the refractory walls in the peripheral part of a furnace bottom by charging a specific quantity of solid reducing agents to the axial center part of ore layers and solid reducing agents having good air permeability to the axial center part of solid reducing agent layers and passing the molten iron and molten slag dropped to the furnace bottom to a tap hole from the central part of the furnace bottom. CONSTITUTION:The blast furnace operation is carried out by alternately charging the solid reducing agents and ore to the blast furnace from the furnace top and laminating the solid reducing agents and the ore layers. The solid reducing agents of the quantity exceeding 0.2wt.% of the total charge quantity of the solid reducing agents are charged to the axial center part of ore layers or the solid reducing agents having the good air permeability are charged to the axial center part of the solid reducing agent layers at this time. The air permeability in the central part of the furnace core is thereby improved and the molten iron and molten slag dropped to the furnace bottom are passed through the central part at the furnace top to the tap hole, by which the erosion of the refractory walls in the peripheral part of the furnace bottom is suppressed.
