PURPOSE:To improve the heat resistance of a background part and to enhance dynamic color developing sensitivity, by successively laminating a heat insulating layer having fine voids and a thermal color forming layer based on a leuco dye and a color developer allowing the leuco dye to form a color at the time of heating to support and setting the static color forming start temp. of the thermal color forming layer at 90 deg.C or more. CONSTITUTION:A heat insulating layer having fine voids and a thermal color forming layer based on a leuco dye and a color developer for allowing the leuco dye to form a color at the time of heating are successively laminated to a support. The static color forming start temp. of the thermal color forming layer in a thermal recording material is set at 90 deg.C or more. The above-mentioned heat insulating layer having fine voids brings about the enhancement of dynamic color forming sensitivity due to the efficient practical use of the heat energy from a thermal head and, by setting the static color forming start temp. of the thermal color forming layer to 90 deg.C or more, heat resistance is enhanced. The heat insulating layer containing fine voids provided between a support and the thermal color forming layer is formed by applying inorg. hollow particles or fine hollow plastic particles having shells composed of a thermoplastic substance and containing air or other gas on the support.
