Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily produce high-tensile unequal-sided unequal thickness steel shapes having uniformly high strength and high hardness by hot rolling a steel having a specific compsn. consisting of C, Si, Mn and Fe and adequately controlling the hot rolling and the subsequent cooling. CONSTITUTION:The steel contg. 0.03-0.18% C, 0.02-0.60% Si, 0.6-2.0% Mn, contg. further >=one kinds among 0.005-0.1% Al, <=0.15% V, <=0.15% Nb, 0.003-0.025% Ti, <=0.5% Cu, <=0.5% Ni, <=0.0010% B, <=0.010% N, <=0.4% Cr, and <=0.2% Mo at need and consisting of the balance Fe and inevitable impurities is hot rolled to obtain the unequal-sided unequal thickness steel shapes consisting of thick flange parts and thin web part. The rolling finishing temp. is set from 650 deg.C up to the upper limit value of the unrecrystallization temp. region. Furthermore, the flange parts are forcibly cooled during the process of the rolling so that the temps. in the flange parts and the web part are held nearly the same at the end of the rolling. The entire part is then subjected to accelerated cooling at 5-50 deg.C/sec down to 450-600 deg.C and thereafter, the steel shapes are cooled with air.
