Abstract

PURPOSE:To control flow of molten steel at pouring basin part and to continuously cast wide strip having high quantity by generating parallel magnetic flux with width direction of a cast slab to the molten steel flow flowing in the pouring basin part composing of a rotating mold and a fixed frame. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel is supplied into the pouring basin part 5 composing of the rotating mold 1 and the fixed frame 4 through a submerged nozzle 7 from a tundish 6 and the metal strip 3 is continuously cast with the rotating mold 1. Then, a static magnetic field generator 8 is arranged on outer side face at both end parts of cast slab width in the fixed frame 4 and the magnetic field is parallel generated with the width direction of the cast flab so that discharging flow to downward from the tundish 6 is vertically crossed. In this way, by relative action of the flow speed and the magnetic flux, braking force acts to the discharging flow and the discharging flow speed to downward is reduced. By this method, the good strip product having uniform thickness, only a little lamination, good internal quality and edge shape and edge and only a little burr is continuously produced.
