Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve contacting strength and to shorten a welding time greatly, by welding two thermocouple wires which crossing each other temporarily while excessive-length parts are left, and carrying out main welding with a laser beam to wide area including the connection part and excessive-length parts. CONSTITUTION:When chromel-constantan thermocouples, for example, are welded as wire materials 2 and 3 to a chip base material 1, the connection body 7 is formed on the wire materials 2 and 3 while the excessive-length parts 4 and 5 are left. Then the main welding is carried out with a spot circle 6 of the laser beam to the wide area including the connection body 7 and excessive-length parts 4 and 5. The temporary welding improve the heat conductivity between the wires to eliminate the temperature difference between the wire materials at the time of the main welding. Further, this part secures thermocouple molding volume required for welding to the excessive-length parts. Consequently, the connection molding in an excellent spherical shape at the time of the main welding, the contacting strength is improved to obtain nearly 100% yield, and the welding time is shortened greatly.
