Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic having synergistically improved effect for ameliorating chapped skin, by using an extract of KOTSUSAIHO (rhizome of Drynaria fortunei), SOKUHAKUYOU (leaf of Thuja orientalis), CHIYU (root of Sanquisorba officinalis), RENKON (rhizome of Nelumbo nucifera), GAIYO (leaf of Artemisia princeps), TOSHOYO (leaf of Pinus densiflora), ININ (seed of Coix lacryma-jobi), REISHI (fruit body of Fomes Japonicus) and/or SAN-YO (leaf of Cryptomeria japonica) in combination with essentially pure brown pigment extracted from crude sugar. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic having extremely excellent effect in ameliorating chapped skin can be produced by compounding (A) extract of one or more kinds of Chinese herb drugs selected from KOTSUSAIHO, SOKUHAKUYOU, CHIYU, RENKON, GAIYO, TOSHOYO, ININ, REISHI and SAN-YO having antiplasmine action as well as anti-inflammatory action, exhibiting skin-smoothening action, scald-remedying action and dermatopathy-remedying action wherein the skin-smoothening effect is insufficient by the single use of the extract and (B) essentially pure brown pigment extracted from crude sugar having skin-beautifying effect which is insufficient by the single use of the extract. The amounts of the components A and B are preferably 0.01-5wt.% and 0.001-5.0wt.%, respectively.
