Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce the titled superconductor having excellent mass- productivity without deterioration in superconducting characteristics for fragments from crushing balls, by containing Si in an Y-Ba-Cu-O based superconductor. CONSTITUTION:Y2O3 of >=98% purity is blended with BaCO3 and SiO2 so that x and y may satisfy relations of 0<y<=0.3 and 1.2-5/3y>=x>=0.8-1/3y when the blending molar ratio of the respective elements of the superconductor composition is Y:Si:Ba:Cu=x:y:2:3. The resultant blend is then pulverized with SiO2 balls to afford a blended powder having <=1mum particle diameter. The obtained blended powder as necessary, is calcined at 880-940 deg.C in the air, formed into a desired shape and fired at 880-960 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere.
