Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a lining roll which does not necessitate finishing of a roll base body and is superior in shock resistance, wear resistance and chemical resistance, by a method wherein after an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene cylindrical body molded through extrusion by a ram extrusion machine at the crystallizing temperature or higher has been inserted continuously into the roll base body directly while keeping warm at a predetermined temperature, the cylindrical body is cut off and shrinked through cooling. CONSTITUTION:Extrusion molding of a cylindrical body 8 is performed by setting up a temperature of a cylinder 2 of a ram extrusion machine at the crystallization temperature or higher of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. The cylindrical body 8 is introduced into a heat insulation hood 13 which has been controlled at 140-200 deg.C and inserted directly and continuously into a roll base body 14 fixed on the inside of the heat insulation hood 13. The roll base body 14 is fixed on a concentric line with the cylinder 2. When the cylindrical body 8 covers the roll base body 14 extending over the whole length, a cover member 9 is released and the cylindrical body 8 is cut off. Then a take out port of the heat insulation hood 13 is released immediately, the cylindrical body 8 is moved in an extruding direction of the cylindrical body, taken out through the heat insulation hood 13 and when the same is cooled, the same is stuck firmly to the roll base body 14.
