Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal contraction pipe being excellent in a contractivity, by a method wherein a crosslinked plastic tube is heated by an induction heating and is also expanded by an air pressure. CONSTITUTION:After a core 2 is covered with a tube 1 whose one end is closed with a thermoplastic tube such as crosslinked polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, etc., an open side of the plastic tube 1 is fastened on a core 2 by a fastening means 8. The plastic tube 1 is then moved slowly in the direction of an arrow mark as it is heated by an induction heating coil 4. Simultaneously, compressed air is pressed into the inside of the core 2 through an air feed pipe 7 to expand the plastic tube. Since an expansion of the plastic tube is limited by a molding die 3 thereupon, the tube is formed in an approximately cylindricity on the whole. The heated, expanded plastic tube is then cooled by a cooling water to obtain a desired thermal contraction pipe.
