Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance a sliding characteristic by applying anisotropic orientation to a composite fiber, by a method wherein a thermoplastic resin and a composite fiber are mixed and rotated in a mold by centrifugal force to disperse the composite fiber and applying a magnetic field to a cavity by a permanent magnet or electromagnet coil. CONSTITUTION:A mold 2 is preheated and a release agent is applied to the inner side surface of the mold. An FCD fiber is mixed with a thermosetting resin 4 under stirring in a separate container and a proper amount of a curing agent is further added to said resin under stirring and the resulting mixture is injected in a cavity while the mold 2, yokes 6a, 6b and a permanent magnet 7 are set to a holder 1. Next, the mold 2 is rotated around a rotary shaft 10 by centrifugal force (50-1,000G) to concentrate the FCD fiber to the bottom part 3b of the cavity of the mold 2 at first by centrifugal force and anisotropy is applied to the fiber in a predetermined direction by the permanent magnet arranged at that time and the dispersion density of the fiber is enhanced at a slide part to cure the resin. A molded body 8 is taken out from the mold 2 and cut at a part 8a to prepare a bearing wherein a slidabile reinforced layer 11 containing the FCD fiber having anisotropy imparted thereto is formed from a slide surface up to an arbitrary depth.
