Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove sodium hydrogensulfite from an aqueous solution containing the same by adding an alkaline agent thereto upon bringing said aqueous solution into contact with oxygen containing gases, in a case where the content of the sodium hydrogensulfite is not less than 150mg/l. CONSTITUTION:The sea water to which an about 20-80mg/l of aqueous solution of sodium hydrogensulfite is added is flowed from an inlet pipe 2 into a reverse osmosis device 1. In this case, since the nonpermeating water containing a sodium hydrogensulfite of 20-50mg/l flows from the reverse osmosis device 1 through an outlet pipe 3, the valve of a first branch pipe 4 is opened and the nonpermeating water is passed therethrough so as to be sprinkled into an oxidization tower 5 by a sprinkler 6, whereby said water undergoes an alkali-free oxidization treatment. By this oxidization process, the treated water containing a 4-8mg/l of sodium hydrogensulfite is sent into a storage tank 18 through a discharge pipe 17.
