CONSTITUTION:The powder of an alloy of iron and the metals such as B, Cr, and V, namely Fe-B, Fe-Cr, and Fe-V, having excellent wear resistance and seizing resistance is deposited on the sliding surface 1 of the base material of the sliding member. The surface is irradiated with a high energy-density heat source to melt the iron alloy powder, and an alloy layer 2 is formed.
