Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the quality of quartz crucible and to reduce the production cost by providing an air discharging opening on the bottom part of a plastic member of center core material, and gelling the sol type raw material of quartz crucible by using a mold. CONSTITUTION:In the production of quartz crucible by the production technique of sol-gel method gelling a sol type raw material by using a mold, the air discharging opening (1a) is provided on the bottom part of the plastic member of center core material. In this production, the air in an elastic member is discharged to the center core material when the center core material is covered with the elastic member. When the center core material is pulled out from the elastic member after the gelling is finished, air is flowed from the center core material to the elastic member, so that the opening functionally works lest an air damper should be formed between the center core material and the elastic member. Moreover, a tapered part 1b along a length l2 is formed between a plastic member 1 and the elastic member 3. The larger the taper 1b is the less the force becomes to smoothly pull out the core.
