Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the quality of quartz crucible and to reduce the production cost by providing taper between the plastic member of center core material and an elastic member, and gelling the sol type raw material of quartz crucible by using a die. CONSTITUTION:In the production of quartz crucible by the production technique of sol-gel method gelling a sol type raw material by using a mold, taper is provided between the plastic member of center core material and the elastic member. In this production, by providing the taper, the force needed to pull out the center core material is eliminated except the initial separation because the two members are substantially not brought into contact with each other after the separation until the pulling-out is finished, while, without taper, the force is needed until the pulling-out is finished. Consequently, the vibration of core material is pulling-out is not transferred to the wet gel and excess force are not given to the wet gel to lessen the generation of cracks. Thus the tapering has an important role for pulling out the core material. The best result is obtained when the taper is in the range of 0.5-3 deg..
