Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the yield of quartz crucible and to reduce the production cost by providing a center core material and the elastic member wrapping the center core material and gelling the sol type raw material of quartz crucible by using a mold. CONSTITUTION:In the production of quartz crucible by the production technique of sol-gel method gelling a sol type raw material by using a mold, the center core material and the elastic member wrapping the center core material are provided. In this production, a plastic member is used for the center core material, which has the function to keep the shape of core, and the elastic member, such as silicone rubber, is used for wrapping the plastic member, which has the function to prevent the gel from the generation of cracks, as the silicone rubber is contracted by the contracting force of gel when the gel contracts. As for the elastic member, a plastic thin hydrophobic membrane may be used besides silicone rubber, etc. Metals, such as aluminum, may be used for the center core material.
