Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of the liquid crystal display device and to reduce its liquid crystal thickness to <10mum, by mounting a switching element array substrate which has a projecting center part on an IC substrate for driving and charging liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:A switching element (not shown in figure) is formed on the insulating substrate (array substrate) 9, the center part is projected, and projection electrodes 10 and conductive joining layers 11 are provided on the sides. This array substrate 9 is mounted on the IC substrate 12 for driving, liquid crystal is injected, and driving ICs 4 and 5 are mounted. The array substrate 9 is disconnected from the driving ICs and only switching element array parts are formed on one substrate, which is disconnected to manufacture many array substrates 9 at a time, so the cost is reduced and the inexpensive device is obtained. The array substrate 9 is formed in a projection shape, so the liquid crystal thickness is reduced to <=10mum.
