Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize a DC intermediate circuit by series-connecting a plurality of paper capacitors and the like and by juxtaposing short-circuiting switches with all capacitors excepting one of them so as to make the capacity of said DC intermediate circuit variable. CONSTITUTION:A voltage type inverter is composed of high-voltage input transformer 1', high-voltage thyristor rectifier 4' using high-voltage thyristors 2'-3', and GTO inverter 11' consisting of high-voltage GTO thyristors 7'-8' and high-voltage diodes 9'-10' antiparallel-connected therewith; and supplies a high-voltage induction motor 12' with electricity. The DC intermediate circuit of said inverter is composed of high-voltage DC reactor 5' and paper or film capacitors 14-15, and said capacitor 15 is further juxtaposed with a short- circuiting switch 16. Then, said switch 16 is set so as to be closed, when the inverter 11' outputs a low voltage, and opened, when said inverter outputs a given voltage or more. Thus, the DC intermediate circuit can be miniaturized.
