Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to supply high-frequency current securely in case of heavy load, by a method wherein recirculating current GTO thyristors are connected in inverse parallel with main switching GTO thyristors which compose a bridge circuit so that a voltage on a commutating capacitor is controlled steadily. CONSTITUTION:Gate turn-off (GTO) thyristors S1-S4 which are used as main switches are connected so as to compose a bridge circuit and current recirculating GTO thyristors D1-D4 are connected in inverse parallel with each of said thyristors S1-S4. A load resonance circuit with Lo and Co is connected to the output terminal of said bridge circuit through an inductance L and a capacitor C for series resonance. When the load is light, the current is controlled by switching of the GTO thyristos S1-S4. When the load is heavy (when the capacitor voltage Vc becomes more than twice of that of the source voltage E), the capacitor voltage Vc is limited within + or -2E by arc ignition control of the recirculating current GTO thyristors D1-D4.
