Abstract

The thyristor switching circuit consists of a thyristor bridge with the compensation capacitor (1) in one diagonal and the power network connected to the other diagonal. Each half of the bridge is bidirectional and accordingly comprises two antiparallel pairs of series thyristors. The bridge may be fully or half controlled. In the latter case one pair of series thyristors in each half is replaced by corresponding diodes. The compensating diagonal of the bridge may contain several LC components. The advantage lies in almost entirely eliminating switching losses.
