Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce acicular magnetized metal fine particle having excellent magnetic characteristic by coating acicular iron oxyhydroxide with compound of Ni, etc., in water, further if necessary, with SiO2, Al2O3, etc., containing heating and burning after filtrating and drying and reducing by reducing gas of H2, etc. CONSTITUTION:The acicular iron oxyhydroxide, iron oxide or ferrite composing of Fe as main component are coated with metallic oxides of Fe and Ni, etc. in the water and further, if necessary, with oxide of SiO2, Al2O3, etc., which is difficult to reduce by hydrogen in the water. After filtrating this, it is dried and heated and burnt under non-reducing gas atmosphere and then, heated and reduced under hydrogen gas atmosphere. The oxide of Ni, etc., is reduced to diffuse in the acicular metal particle composing Fe as the main component, and the SiO2 and Al2O3 are not reduced and applied as these compounds are. This is put under the atmosphere at 10-60 deg.C and 40-100% relative humidity to absorb 0.8-2% of water and the acicular magnetized method particle is produced as coating type magnetic recording medium for magnetic tape or magnetic disk having excellent magnetic characteristic.
