Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve electrooptic characteristics of an org. nonlinear optical thin film by annealing the org. nonlinear optical thin film which has been cooled and solidified at <=the m.p. of the org. nonlinear optical material. CONSTITUTION:An org. nonlinear optical material 3 melted at a temp. higher than the m.p. of the optical material 3 is sucked by the effect of capillarity into a space 2c between a pair of plane substrates 2a, 2b. The org. nonlinear optical material in the space 2c is formed to a thin film by cooling and solidifying the material. The thin film is annealed at a temp. below the m.p. of the org. nonlinear optical material 3. By this method, electrooptic characteristics of an org. nonlinear optical thin film produced by the melting and solidifying method are improved.
