Abstract
PURPOSE:To miniaturize a power source by decreasing a maximum load current of a printing head driving a power source, by adding a delay circuit to a dot impact printer. CONSTITUTION:A dot impact printer is composed of common side drivers 2, 3, drivers 4-7, printing heads 8-11, and a delay circuit 1. For instance, a space in a spacing direction Z of printing head groups A1, A2 is taken as 8 times t+alpha, and a shear pitch alpha is made to be a value less than t. For instance, in the case where printing is performed simultaneously at both printing positions a, b, a printing group A is driven after spacing has been performed by a shear pitch alpha content from drive of a printing head group A2. Therefore, peaks of driving current of the printing head groups A1 and A2 do not become at same timing. The printing head A1 is driven by combining a scan of firmware with a subscan of hardware by using the delay circuit 1. The firmware becomes able to be driven at the same timing as those of the printing head groups A1 and A2, and the firmware can be constructed without increasing a load of the firmware.
