Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit the high-speed printing of a dot printer while preventing the overheating of a head by setting up the speed of sprinting according to the density of dots previously printed and the time of non-printing till the next printing. CONSTITUTION:Printing data put in a head driver 3 through buffer registers 1 and 2 are sent a printing head 4 by a signal from a printing speed controller 7, where printing of letters, figures, etc., is made. On the other hand, signals divided into plural steps (e.g., five steps) according to the density of 1 of printing data on one line are sent through a counter 5 and a decorder 6 to the controller 7 to control the frequency of print timing pulse from the controller 7 (e.g., if the density of dot is highest, controlling is made in such a way as to make the printing speed of the next line lowest). Also, when the time of non-printing is present, the controller 7 is operated by set time according to the density of dot by means of a timer 8, and the printing speed of the next line is made faster than that of the previous line.
