Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize a dot printer that can print two dot print rows by one reciprocation of a printing hammer, wherein when the number of dots to be printed in one dot print row is above a prescribed value, it is controlled such that one dot print row is printed by one reciprocation thereof. CONSTITUTION:In the dot printer wherein a plurality of printing hammer having dot printing elements are provided along a print line, and two dot print rows are printed by one reciprocation of the printing hammer, when dot print data transmitted from a preceding appratus 1 is received, the numbers of dots to be printed in one dot print row are added at an adder 4. When the result of the addition is higher than a prescribed value, a signal is outputted via an NAND gate 11 from a flip flop 12 so that one dot print row is printed by one reciprocation of the printing hammer. Thus, a cooler for cooling the heating of a coil of the printing hammer, etc. can be made small.
