The printing head 9 (the hammer members 18, 19...) is scanned by Ph.M (Ph represents a lateral pitch of the dot matrix) while the platen 3 rotates 1/N rotation (N represents the number of projected lines 8). When a first letter or the like is to be formed, the dot forming element of the first row of the like is to be formed, the dot forming element of the first row of the printing head 9 forms a dot from a row within M rows of the dot matrix of the first letter or the like.
