CONSTITUTION:A printing data of 1 character is sent out from a keyboard 11 to a character kind discriminating circuit 1, a return code detecting circuit 2 and a printing control part 7, and at the time of the first character of the printing data, a forward turn signal is outputted to a pulse motor driving circuit 6 from a space controlling circuit 4. Also, a numerical value of an acceleration and deceleration sequence is read out from a memory 5, a pulse train corresponding to said numerical value is generated, and is supplied to the circuit 6. By this circuit 6, a pulse motor 10 is driven and a printing head 9 is moved at an equal speed. In this case, a timing pulse is sent out to the control part 7 from the circuit 4, and in accordance with said pulse, a dot pattern is sent to a head driver 8, and 1 character is printed by driving the head 9. After 1 character has been printed, the extent of overrun is controlled by a discrimination result of the discriminating circuit 1, and a space between characters which have been printed, by which a printing quality is improved.
