Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable printing by plural colors in simple structure and in a short treatment time by mounting a platen consisting of a plurality of porous members, which become independent mutually and hold the ink of different colors, in a dot matrix printer.
CONSTITUTION: The first porous member 13a to which ink such as black ink is impregnated, the second porous member 13b to which ink such as red ink is impregnated...are each fixed through partition walls 13' in the platen 13, and a shaft 12 fast stuck to a central hole section is axially supported to a platen carrier 11 rotatably. Printing neddles corresponding to respective color of the platen 13 are arranged to a printing needle carrier 16 opposing to the carrier 11, a controlling drive circuit 22 selects printing needle drive units 17 to be driven with the travelling of the printing needle carrier 16 when printing, the desired unit is driven in conformity with timing when the unit reaches a printing position on a recording medium 27, and the porous members 13aW13d are struck.
