Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the non-destructive and accurate searching of the conditions of reinforcing bars by energizing the reinforcing bars of a reinforced concrete member and measuring the temp. changes of the concrete surface from the heat generated in the reinforcing bars by an IR radiation thermometer.
CONSTITUTION: The temp. distributions T1, T2... around the reinforcing bars 2 are generated and the temp. changes are induced in the concrete surface when the reinforcing bars 2 of the reinforced concrete member 1 are energized to generate heat. The temp. changes of the concrete surface are measured by the IR radiation thermometer 3 and are subjected to image processing by an image processor 4, by which the spacing l between the reinforcing bars, protection (t), the diameter of the reinforcing bars and the sectional chipping condition of the reinforcing bars are detected. The conditions of the reinforcing bars are thus searched by the simple processing with good accuracy without breaking the member 1.
