Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a simple constitution to detect mechanical displacement with high reliability by coupling a magnet with a magnetostriction strain wire.
CONSTITUTION: This detector consists of excitation method 2 which couples with magnetostrictive wire 1 and generates an ultrasonic signal in wire 1, magnet 4 which provides a magnetic field to wire 1 while moving along wire 1, method 3 which couples with wire 1 and receives a reflected ultrasonic signal reflected at the position of magnet 4, and circuit CU which generates a signal relating to the displacement position of magnet 4 by receiving a signal relating the time required by the ultrasonic signal generated in wire 1 by excitation method 2 to go and return between receiving method 3 and magnet 4. Consequently, displacement position detection can be carried out with high reliability.
