Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the titled high-alloy stainless steel by subjecting the continuous-coasting slab of an austenitic stainless steel having specific compsn. to soaking treatment, hot rolling and cooling under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:The continuous cast slab of the austenitic stainless steel contg., by weight, 0.005-0.3% C, <=5% Si, <=8% Mn, <=0.04% P, 15-35% Cr, 10-40% Ni, 4.5-13% Mo, <=30ppm S, <=70ppm O, 0.001-0.1% Al and 0.01-0.5% N, contg. one or more kinds among 0.001-0.008% Ca, <=3% Cu, <=1% Nb, <=1% V, <=2% W, <=0.5% Zr, and <=0.5% Sn as selective components and consisting substantially of the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is subjected to a soaking treatment in the range of the shadowed portion shown by the figure. The slab undergone >=2hr total soaking time with the soaking time in said temp. range before rolling is then hot rolled, is furthermore annealed at >=1,100 deg.C and is thereafter cooled by water from the temp. range of >=900 deg.C.
