Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a high-tensile steel plate having low yield ratio and sufficient toughness, by rolling a steel containing specific percentages of C, Si, Mn, and SolAl under specific conditions and then successively applying primary cooling and accelerated secondary cooling to the above. CONSTITUTION:A steel consisting of, by weight, 0.02-0.20% C, 0.03-0.60% Si, 0.5-2.5% Mn, <=0.06% SolAl, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is rolled at a temp. in a region between 900 deg.C and Ar3 point at >=30% cumulative draft. Subsequently, primary cooling is applied through a temp. region from the Ar3 point and (Ar3 point -80 deg.C) at about 10 deg.C/min cooling rate, by which fine ferrite is precipitated in the rolled steel plate. Further, accelerated secondary cooling is applied down to about 350 deg.C at >=about 8 deg.C/min cooling rate, by which martensite and/or bainite is precipitated in the ferrite. Moreover, tempering consisting of soaking and holding at about 400-650 deg.C for about 30-60min and air cooling is applied, if necessary. By this method, the about 60kgf/mm<2> class high-tensile steel plate having <=about 80% yield ratio and superior toughness can be obtained.
