Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a composite piezoelectric body having high performance and high accuracy to be manufactured easily and efficiently, by forming a piezoelectric plate from pillar-shaped piezoelectric bodies with very small dimensions of a piezoelectric material while supporting these pillar-shaped piezoelectric bodies integrally by means of an organic material. CONSTITUTION:A coat film 12 of an organic material is secured on the external periphery of a wire-shaped piezoelectric body 11 of a piezoelectric material to form a coated piezoelectric body. A plurality of such coated piezoelectric bodies are bundled together while spaces therebetween are filled with an organic material 12, which is then cured, so that a composite piezoelectric block is provided. This composite piezoelectric block is cut off in the transverse direction thereto to form a piezoelectric plate 10 having a predetermined thickness (t). The top and bottom faces of the piezoelectric plate 10 are plated with a plated electrode layer 13 having a thickness of (t1). In this manner, a composite piezoelectric body having high performance and high accuracy can be manufactured easily without any complicated mechanical working.
