Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain composite piezoelectric material having a high electromechanical coupling efficient and a low acoustic impedance by a method wherein a plate of piezoelectric material is formed into columnar piezoelectric material of a fine dimension and these are supported integrally with one another by organic materials. CONSTITUTION:A PZT plate 10 is temporarily adhered on a smooth substrate through a wax bonding agent and a plurality of pieces of grooves 11 crossing in a reticulated form are bored on the upper surface of the plate 10 at pitches of (p) to form a plurality of pieces of columnar piezoelectric material 12. Then, such a resin as an epoxy resin is filled and cured in the grooves 11 to form organisms for holding the material 12, the above bonding agent is dissolved by heating to peel the plate 10 and the plate 10 is turned over, is again temporarily adhered on the substrate and is processed and molded in a prescribed thickness. After plated electrode layers 13 are each formed on the surface and the rear of the processed and molded plate 10, the plate 10 is again temporarily adhered on the substrate through a wax and a plurality of pieces of grooves 15 are bored at pitches of 2p at the positions of the organisms 14 arranged at the pitches of (p) out of the organisms 14 formed so as to hold a plurality of pieces of the piezoelectric bodies 12 to form a grouplike aligned compound piezoelectric material 16, each consisting of a plurality of pieces of the piezoelectric bodies 12.
